Title: Even though you're gone, you're still there.
I get up. The sky wakes up without me.
Empty and cold, as if waiting for us both.
As if it were waiting for days when
the world had a different taste,
a different scent. There was room in it
for conversation, laughter, and silence..
I miss the moments
when we sat above the world,
when time was a friend,
and words connected like a bridge..
You taught me to look to see more.
To notice the silence among the trees and rocks..
Now I'm alone in the mountains
with the shadow of your presence.
I look for you in the sunlight,
in the roar of the mountain breeze,
in the footsteps on Giewont..
You were a father, a teacher,
a friend—a breath.
The thoughtlessness you left behind
is an endless horizon,
an echo that fades in the heart
but never dies.
I look east,
as we once did together –
and I know that even though you are gone,
you are still here.
