Title: New Moon
I sit on the windowsill. Deep in the night
I draw maps in the stars that don't lead home.
Loneliness is nearby. I don't remember since when.
It's silent. It knows we have nothing in common,
though we both bear the stigma of death on our skin –
the touch of a hand that broke the contract with life.
Not dying, yet departing, I hear the clock.
It hesitated twice, before and after midnight.
I ponder over a spring leaf. Falling
it's not ready to expire.
And over a bird that crashed into the windowpane
not because it was flying at breakneck speed,
but because it didn't know where the sky ended.
The deaf walls stare eloquently:
– sometimes it's enough to pause to stay
and not plan two boards.
