***Supposing Love***
If we suppose that love is blind
Compassion meant to merge and mend
With not a soul that's left behind
With this the thing to bear in mind
How might we fail to comprehend?
If we suppose that love is strong
Each one in turn to have his share
Each one thus charged to right a wrong
Each woeful wail turned into song
How not be prone to grateful prayer?
If we suppose that love is true
Found paradise upon this plane
How not to wear the neighbour's shoe
Upon such mile we never knew
Whereby a stone to cause him pain?
