Life’s youth is but a letter—
a message of longing,
of tender love between souls
that meet of their own accord.
Moonlight woven with silver threads,
a seed sown deep—my earthen bond.
O, this world of illusion spreads afar!
Monsoon floods the streaming river,
and at the estuary waits the radiant bride.
A boat drifts upon the waves—
yet never reaches the shore of my heart.
O Heart-bond, you never meet your own!

জীবনের যৌবন তো চিঠি
অভিসারের মনোজ প্রীতি,
সবে আপনে আপনে লাগি।
বিনিসুতোয় গড়া চাঁদনী
রোপিত অঙ্কুর যে- মৃৎজড়ি।
মায়াময় হে জগৎ ছড়ি!
বর্ষা ভাসায় প্রবাহনদী,
মোহনায় পৌঁছে সৌদমিনী !
জলতরঙ্গে বায় হে তরী !
হৃৎপাড়ে মিলে না হে হৃৎজড়ি!
