Title: Saying Goodbye Is Not Enough

The day stands still,

hours snatched from sleep fade away,

leaving an empty chair at the table.

Behind the closed door,

no footsteps are heard. Silence breathes slowly.

A smile fades from memory.

The world grows cold, even though it's spring outside.

The lamps go out, the darkness gives no rest,

but not because of the clouds,

but because of the loneliness that came

without asking for permission.

Trust is the greatest burden
